Tied at three with the overtime clock winding down a shootout was enevitable. After much deliberation at the bench Coach Wilson finally decides on the shootout order...John Mitchell missed on the first attempt, Andy McDonald quickly answered with a goal on Vesa, and Leafs fans were feeling deja vu all over again with the third period lead squandered. Then Grab-o tried the one-hander but Legace wasn't having it. Former Leaf Brad Boyes also failed. With the game on the line Kubina strolls down and places a perfect shot top cheese, ringing it off the bar.
Paul Kariya then missed setting up my boy Luke Schenn for his first shootout attempt ever. With the crowd chanting his name and the game on the line, Luke looked a little nervous missing the puck and half-stumbling to startoff but he shook it off and continued down on the vetran Manny Legace. The 19 year old pulled the puck back and forth a few times before leaning to his backhand, Legace bought it, so SuperSchenn wheeled it back and popped it in short side...the crowed goes nuts....the chatroom goes nuts...LeafLand goes nuts. Vesa then stopped T.J Oshie to win the game.
Schenn finished a +3 and third star and Leaf management finished with a tough decision on they're hands...

Horrible wording. I thought Kubina hit the cross bar. Word it better next time, like "it rang off the bar and went in"
DRAMA.
Schenn deserves to be there but there would just be too much for Clifford to unload to make a spot available. He will get his 9 games hopefully. I think his solid play will make it easier for the leafs to move either Kaberle or Kubina at the deadline.
Can someone explain the Jeremy Williams situation? Why would the Leafs waive him, and I didn't think you could waive a guy on a 2-way contract?
As for the shootout, why would you put Kubina out to tie it? And then Schenn to win it?!?!? It worked, but those are the two last guys I would put in a shootout for Toronto Haha.
williams didnt get waived? he was injured in saturdays game with a stick to the face.
but ya schenn looked amazing but still, i want him to back to juniors, take in the world juniors again and then he'll be good for next year.
I feel a sense of Calm when Schenn is out on the Ice. It's just a reassuring feeling that we are not going to be scored on. Never felt that before with the Maple Leafs. As Schenn gets better (and he WILL get better), so will the Maple Leafs.
schenn and kubina won a shootout comp in practice thats y they were out there
actually williams was waived. i saw it on the sportscenter ticker. hard to understand why he got waived but whatever.
