Sabres extend Pominville

As per WGR550:

As I reported on Monday, the Sabres have signed forward Jason Pominville to a 5-year extension. The 26-year old was entering the final year of his contract, but will now be with the team long-term. WGR 550 has learned that Pominville will earn over $5 million per season. The new deal kicks in after the 2008-09 season.

Pominville played 82 games last season for Buffalo and registered 27 goals and 53 assists.

My take: Good move by the Sabres to secure Pominville long term. Pommer is the heart of Buffalo's offense with Roy and Vanek.

^^^You're right, the Sabres will not make the playoffs. To those who disagree, just take a look at their defensive depth chart. That is definitely NOT a playoff-caliber set of blueliners.
