From Sharkspage: Veteran defenseman Alexei Semenov has signed with the San Jose Sharks. A 6-foot-6 235 pound native of Murmansk Russia, Semenov enters his 6th NHL season after compiling 4 points in 22 games with the Sharks last season.
Semenov was an unrestricted free-agent and now provides the Sharks with eight NHL caliber defenseman. Semenov won over management last season with his practice habits and positive attitude, but must eliminate the lapses of judgement that have haunted his game to date. This signing is likely the precursor to another roster move, as the Sharks remain over the salary cap.
Look for Kyle McClaren to be traded or demoted as the Sharks need to get under the cap before the puck drops on Oct 4th.
