Jeff Hamilton signs with the Chicago Wolves on the AHL

Hamilton played for the Carolina Hurricanes, registering 24 points in 58 games. He also played in the NHL for the Blackhawks and the Islanders.

The Wolves are the Atlanta Thrasers' AHL affiliate. If the Thrashers want to call him up during the season, they will have to offer him a professional contract.

I know everyone loves bashing this site and saying Eklund is better or both suck, etc.., but one thing I really like about this site is that there are always updates. Hockeybuzz gets updated a max of three times daily, this site has new updates constantly.

And yes, it's sad that he couldn't land a two-way.

Hamilton will play 50+ games with the Thrashers this year, trust me.. He's sick on the point on the power play and I still can't believe Carolina bought this guy out.

And by the way people, he will get more money if he signs a minor league contract vs. signing a 2-way contract. Atlanta will need to sign him to an NHL professional contract if (and when) they call him up.

He didn't sign a contract with Atlanta, so he can't play for them. This is a 1 way AHL deal.

So, if they try to bring him up, does he have to clear waivers??

I see he needs to sign an NHL contract, but how does that affect the waivers??......
