Schneider Traded To Atlanta

The Anaheim Ducks have traded defenseman Mathieu Schneider to the Atlanta Thrasher sin exchange for D-man Ken Klee, Left wing Brad Larsen and Prospect Chad Painchaud.

Props To USATODAY for breaking this before All Other Sites

this is so retarded........if Atlanta wanted him, why not just pick him off the waivers.......

and for those players they traded, it's not as if those guys' salary is so expensive......

plus, the Thrashers are close to $20M under the salary cap.......

so retarded.......

Yeah I don't understand this move other than the fact that Thrasher's organization has a self imposed cap of from what I understand to be $43 million. My assumption is this was a way for the organization to make the hit of Schnieder to be a little more easier to withstand. The Thrashers still have about 12 million to play with (which mind you they will not touch) and the Ducks get the 3.5 they need to sign Selane.

Does anyone else think that Kovalchuk cannot wait for his contract to run out so he can get the hell out of dodge?
