Outlook:
As much as it pains me to say this the Canadiens are the team to beat in the East this year they added toughness in Laraque and speed in Tanguay. The Canadiens are celebrating there 100th year in the NHL and will be looking to win the Stanley Cup a record 25th time. They must do it this year as this would mark the 1st time the Canadiens would have failed to win the cup in every decade since its creation. While a lot of people unjustly voted the Canadiens out of the playoffs last year they surprised all by finishing in the top 3 of the East and making the Eastern Semi-Finals only to be beat by the Philadelphia Flyers. The Canadiens will wear a plethra of different jerseys this season to commemerate there 100th season which everyone should look forward to seeing. The only question mark the Canadiens really have is G Carey Price who collapsed in the playoffs and the last half of the season he will be the make or break player of the Canadiens roster this year. I could easily see Halak taking that #1 spot away if Price seems to be struggling at anytime this year. The 1st line should easily be the K's and Tanguay which could be an extremely dominate line! Higgins and Kovalev will quarterback the second line with Koivu possibly centering that line or the 3rd line. This team should be fun to watch!
Rumors:
Mats Sundin is all we've been hearing but recently Gainey seems to be less optimistic about obtaining the 37 year old centerman as Mats can't seem to decide anything. There have also been rumblings that a Edmonton/ Montreal trade could take place but don't put any stock in it as Horcoff seems to be the rumored name and he is Edmontons best center.
Prediction:
The Canadiens will win the East in my opinion and more than likely go to the Stanley Cup finals.

I know they did but I felt like putting it that way.
I really like this Habs team and it's the first time it what feels like ages I can say that. I really hope they can keep their streak of winning a cup in every decade since it's inception going....but I do have my doubts. I think we're going to see Montreal make it to the eastern finals where they will end up against a very scary looking Washington Capitals team. I'm not sure Montreal has the defense to take them all the way this year unfortunately.

Tanguay is awesome, hes gonna be huge for MTL this year.
I think the Pens will finish first in the East this year, and Montreal second. The difference: a full year out of Marc-Andre Fleury, who was the best goalie in the NHL from March until the Cup Finals. Carey Price has a lot to prove to everyone this season.
