Outlook
The Oilers have been adding a lot of pieces to there very young puzzle this summer with the additions of Cole, Visnovsky, and Brule. They do have questions in goal with Garon but he had a very good season last year and will look to improve on that this year. There is a lot of promise in young Gagner (13 Goals, 36 Assists for 49 pts) and Cogliano (18 Goals, 27 Assists for 45 pts) A lot of people including Oiler legend Wayne Gretzky believe these 2 young players can bring the Oilers back to the days of old when they were winning Stanley Cups. The addition of Visnovsky should make the backend produce and Cole should bring a side of grit that only Moreau to this point was capable of bringing.
Rumors
There aren't many rumors coming out of Edmonton right now there were whirrings of a Gomez deal or maybe Gionta but they have since been proven as false.
Prediction
I could see the Oilers winning the Northwest this year as its a very open division. They should score more goals then last year and they should be a lot more solid on the backend Garon may be the only question mark going forward.
The Sources Prediction
I will say anywhere between 8th and 3rd

some honesty and criticism..
these profiles are pretty weak. you could do them all in one post.
could you try to write a more thoughtful analysis?
I'm just writing how I truly feel about each team. Thanks for the actual constructive criticism. Its better than fuck you and this sucks.
not a bad post, it will be interesting to see who finishes on top in the northwest this season...who knows, maybe the oil will actually finish 3rd in the conference like you mentioned in your prediction. should be a tight conference points-wise.
<"There is a lot of promise in young Gagner and Cogliano A lot of people including Oiler legend Wayne Gretzky believe these 2 young players can bring the Oilers back to the days of old when they were winning Stanley Cups.">
Did Gretzky really say that? If so he should be shot. Those 2 players are going to be solid NHLer's for years to come but neither of them will be "bringing a cup" to Edmonton. If one comes they will certainly be a piece but far the Oilers saviors.
I'm going to keep an eye on Brule, i think he might finally break out. If not it was a horrible trade for Torres, Big gamble big reward. It will be interesting if Gilbert can earn his lofty contract as well.
If Penner,Cogliano,Gagne and Stoll can improve their totals from last year the Oilers could take the division. But that is a lot of if's, a lot. I'm betting the Oilers squeak in the 8th spot at years end.
coryberg2, you should keep an eye on the fact that Stoll is with the Kings now....
give a better prediction.. a smaller range. between 8th and third is huge. why don't you just write between 8th and 6th -- more realistic.
I actually really like this team, its looks like a team whos gonna win in the future, with souray staying healthy this year they might have a really deadly PP

Touche, shows how much i follow the oil. Totally forgot about the Visnovsky trade.
Minnesota, Calgary and Edmonton will be battling it out for the last two playoff spots. Vancouver will have the division locked up by the beginning of March leaving these teams to make a stretch run. My prediction is Calgary and Minnesota get in and Edmonton's lack of a true number 1 goal tender bites them in the ass.
