Coyotes Douse Flames 4-2

Huge victory for the Coyotes last night in Calgary. But not just a huge victory; a night of veteran firsts for this season. Defensemen Derek Morris was first for the Coyotes, scoring his first goal of the season. Next was Captain Coyote Shane Doan scoring his 7th goal of the season. Doan now leads the team with goals scored so far this season. Olli Jokinen is trailing close behind... Ed Jovanovski was next, scoring his first goal (and point) of the season. Last but certainly not least, was Steve Reinprecht's back-hander at the end of the 2nd period. This was Reino's 300th NHL career point, CONGRATS REINO! Scoring for the Flames: Daymond Langkow & Dustin Boyd. Both Flames goals were scored in the first period. Calgary outshot Pheonix, Bryzgalov stopping 27 of those 29 SOG, Kiprusoff only stopping 18 of the 22 he faced.

A few things of note from www.phoenixcoyotes.com:
  • Rookie Kyle Turris was a healthy scratch last night in favor of Garth Murray, who played his debut game with the Coyotes in Calgary. With a total of 11 minutes of ice time, Murray blocked 5 shots, delivered 2 hits and even had a rather entertaining fight with Calgary's Eric Nystrom.

  • Center Olli Jokinen played in his 386th consecutive game, the second-longest active streak in the NHL.

  • Kiprusoff has played every minute of every Flames game so far this season.
