The Chicago Blackhawks, one day after winning their first game of the season after three straight losses, have fired head coach Denis Savard and replaced him with Joel Quenneville, a veteran head coach who has previously coached the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche.
Savard was 65-67-15 mark in parts of three seasons as the Blackhawk coach. he was first named to the job on Nov. 29, 2006. Savard was on a very short leash in Chacgo as the expectations are very high this season in the Windy City.

Talk about knee-jerk reaction. I know Quennville had some success with youngsters in Colorado but this was a team Savard had helped build, had played a few days and having watched them a couple of times, were just showing the typical growing pains of a very young team. Dumb, dumb move.
