It does sound like it might not work but Ottawa wants to make a deal ASAP as they believe that they still have a chance at the cup regardless where they are in the season.

have you heard anything about those ottawa - calgary trade rumours that make no sense to me?

Chicago is making this deal so they have more room under the cap. Ottawa is making the deal because they feel Khabiboulin is an upgrade to Gerber. That being said if I am Tallon I am holding out for more than just Gerber and a pick for both Khabiboulin and Seabrooke.
What other goalies are on the market.
