Kings Penalty Kill Doing The Job

During training camp new Kings head coach Terry Murray stressed the importance of killing penalties and so far, so good. The Kings have killed 14 of 14 penalties after 3 games this season and some of the more unexpected players are getting the job done. Anze Kopitar is of course a offensive threat but was know for being a little soft defensively. He is getting major minuets on the PK and is showing that this is one area of his game he has improved on during the off season. Youngsters Matt Moulson, Brad Richardson, Wayne Simmonds and Drew Doughty are all logging time on the PK. And the biggest penalty killer of them all, goaltender Jason Labarbera. During the off season he worked on weight loss and flexibility. Boy is that showing now. Last night against the Ducks he even showed some Hasek like snow angels stopping a 5 on 3 disadvantage.

Next task for the penalty kill units, Carolina, Colorado and Detroit.
