Higgins Not In Lineup Tonight And Talks Heating Up For Gabby

A day after Habs forward Christopher Higgins was set to return....he won't be. RDS is reporting Higgins is still not feeling 100%. Don't be surprised to hear about Gaborik to Habs rumors with this surprising lineup change.

RDS now reporting that talks between the Canadiens and Wild are heating up on Gaborik. Word is Minnesota wants Higgins and Halak and a pick. I dont know why they want Halak because they have 2 solid goalies right now but hey...Im NOT Doug Risebrough.

Now hearing reports a deal COULD BE IMMINENT.

I don't see Gaborik being traded this early. Riseborough would be smart to wait and let Gaborik's stock rise.

How will Montreal take Gaboriks huge salary and I do not think Montreal will be trading so early in the season. They will probably wait until the trade deadline to see how the season is going and make trades to improve any weaknesses they have.

Backstrom is a UFA after this season, so getting Halak may allow him to shop Backstrom at the deadline if there out of contention.

Not only is Backstrom a UFA, Josh Harding is an RFA next summer. This is supposed to be a year in which Harding proves he has what it takes to step into the #1 role or if he still needs more time. The potential addition of Halak may seem peculiar to some, especially when you look at the goal crease THIS season, but NEXT season could look totally different.
