Notes For Leafs-Wings Game

INSTANT ANALYSIS FROM BRODES (after 2 periods)

The Wings are uncharacteristically sloppy in their own zone. The Leafs are setting up in their own neutral zone trying to make the Wings dump the puck in, which is what Detroit doesn't like doing. The trap game they are enforcing is going to piss off a lot of teams this year, but not the Wings.

WHAT THE WINGS NEED TO DO IN THE 3RD: Mike Babcock has to try and enforce some sort of change in their breakout to implement puck speed and retrieving possesion upon entering the zone. Once set up in the zone, the skill level they each possess will take them the rest of the way.

WHAT THE LEAFS NEED TO DO IN THE 3RD: The only way the Leafs will win games this year is how they are doing that right now with a dump and chase, grind, trap and cycle to death style. Fans won't be very enthises upon hearing the boring Leafs will be coming into town. This did not work with the highly skilled San Jose team, but will work with the grind to the bone Maple Leafs.
