Flyers announced yesterday that defenseman Ryan Parent will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will miss 12-14 weeks (3 months).
Rookie D Luca Sbisa earned a roster spot due the injury and will get a deep look before he plays his 10th game. If he plays very well, he'll stick with the team. Otherwise, he'll be sent to junior to get some seasoning.
Bryan Berard who was not tendered a contract due to cap restrictions would have been a nice insurance policy to start the season as he had a strong training camp.
